Distribution Essays - International Trade, Export,

Distribution Indirect Exporting An Indirect Exporter is when a firm's product is sold in foreign markets with no special activity for this purpose occurs within the firm. Others carry a firm's product overseas. Although exporting this way can open up new markets quickly a firm will have limited control over distribution of its product. A firm likes to have a buyer; thus products are sold in a domestic market then resold overseas in different ways. -Foreign wholesale and retail organisations that have purchasing agents in a firm's home country may find the firm's product good for their market. -Manufacturers and firms have U.S. offices obtain equipment and supplies to their foreign operations. Companies have an advantage by selling to the U.S. firms because they are using export routes already supplying their domestic operations via the U.S. -With multinational operations buy equipment and supplies for them through their regular domestic purchasing. Equipment is shipped and installed in foreign plant. Foreign producers take note of the equipment. Then orders for the equipment will follow. Thus, an active exporting involvement by the supplying firm. This has befitted the supplying firm with a free introduction to the foreign market. International trading companies are very important for some markets. Some of these companies handle the majority of the imports into the country. The size and market coverage of these trading companies makes them excellent distributors, especially with their credit reliability. They cover their markets and provide service for the products they sell. Using these trading companies has negative factors. These companies have a tendency to carry competing products and the latest product may not receive the attention its producers desired. The sales from these kinds of indirect exporting are as good as domestic sales and, show that they are less stable. Since being so far from the main market a firm has little control. Even though new sales is helpful the disadvantage of not having more control of foreign sales a company may look for a more suitable arrangements in the long-run. Export Management Companies (EMC) Some companies work with an export management to have increased control over its product. There are some advantages of using an export management company: -The manufacture receives instant foreign market knowledge and contacts via the operations and the experience of the EMC. -The manufacture saves the cost of developing the in-house expertise in exporting. An EMC cost is spread over the sales of several manufacturers. -EMC offer clients consolidated shipments for savings. -Lines of complementary products can better foreign representation than the products of just one manufacturing. Also, EMC's accept foreign credit responsibility. There are also some disadvantages to using an EMC: -Some EMC's handled too many lines to give the proper attention to a new exporter. -Many tend to be market specialist rather than product specialist, thus product expertise is weak. -Some EMC's coverage is only regional rather than global. Export trading companies (ETC) A ETC acts as the export arm of a number of manufactures. ETC's allow U.S. companies or banks to form a trading company with the size, resources, sophistication, and international network comparable to the Japanese companies. Unfortunately U.S ETC's have not really worked out. Most of them are small or they have failed. Piggyback Exporting One manufacture uses it overseas distribution to sell other companies' product with their own. One party is called the carrier; the carrier is the firm that does the exporting. With the export of the new non-competitive product may help ease the cost of exporting. Piggybacking can be attractive because a company can fill up its exporting capacity or fill out their product line. Also, piggybacking can help in a lost cost way for the carrier to export and save on investment in R&D, production facilities, and market testing for a new product. There are also some negatives, quality control and warranty. The rider may not maintain the quality of the products sold by the other company. Concerns of supply, a carrier can develop a large market abroad, the rider firm may favor its own marketing needs it tight demand conditions. The party called the rider has a great advantage. By using another company a company can get its product to foreign markets. This offers the riders and established exp ort and distribution facilities and shared expenses, and benefits close to an EMC and a

Henri Rousseau Vs Alphonse Mucha essays

Henri Rousseau Vs Alphonse Mucha essays Henri Rousseau, and Alphonse Mucha, have had very memorable lives. When people think of Henri Rousseau they think of all his amazing jungle scenes he has painted. When it comes to Alphonse Mucha, people remember his efforts of enforcing the Slav Epic. Whether it be dealing with style, purpose, lives, education, or origin, Henri Rousseau and Alphonse Mucha have many similarities as well as differences. Henri Rousseau and Alphonse Mucha both are considered to be in the symbolism category for their work. Both Mucha and Rousseaus work, traced back to their homelands. Rousseau is from Lavel, France and Mucha is from Invancice, Moravia, or the Czech Republic, as we know it today. As well as tracing their work back to their homelands, they were also influenced by the traditional forms of painting at the time. However, after years passed, they tried to stray away from the traditional form, creating their own forms of painting. On the other hand, Rousseau and Alphonses styles were quite different in many ways. First off, Muchas style consists of dynamic lines in geometric patterns. He achieves his dramatic effects of his pictures by the way he positions his figures and gets them to blend with the patterns. He leaves no empty spaces throughout the painting. While Rousseaus style never really changed throughout his career, his shapes and images are painted with little shadow. This portrays an overall stage-like effect. Design, shape, and color are very important to this painter. He also overlaps shapes to create a sense of shallow space, unlike Mucha. Regardless of what picture you are looking at, you will always see the differences between Mucha and Rousseaus work. Art came easily to the two painters. They taught themselves their own crafts and learned many different techniques after years went by. They both had a minimal amount of schooling behind them. Henri ...

JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AMONG MINORITIES COMPARED TO NON-HISPANIC WHITES Research Paper

JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AMONG MINORITIES COMPARED TO NON-HISPANIC WHITES - Research Paper Example ermining the nature of a child but in order to solve the problem related to childhood delinquency the most important aspect is to realize the requirement of a child and provide him with proper emotional nourishment, going beyond the extent of social, cultural or religious discrimination. At the same time, parents also have to be more tolerant and understanding; consequently they must also realize that their arbitrary actions can harm the child worst in their psychology. Providing proper support to children, especially when it comes from parents, is the best possible way to reduce the problems related to juvenile delinquency. The increasing peace of social cosmopolitanism, though on several occasions, has been encouraged by sociologists with the expectation that it reflects the ideals of social tolerance and harmonized existence, however, in reality, the entire situation is far from being real. Globalization, evolution of human rights and revoking the principles of universal brotherhood are some of the important factors that aspired scholars, intellectual and common people to wish for a better socio-cultural existence. The reality has emerged as quite contradictory to the expected situation and by remaining far from realizing the basic aspects of human existence, people have remained hostile against accepting religious, racial and cultural differences normally and they have remained on an uncompromising stance in providing adequate recognition to their fellow counterparts that have different social, religious and cultural upbringing. The social structure of nations like the United States is a bright exam ple in support of the observation as cultural and racial conflicts are predominating factors, emerging as essential barriers when it comes to attainment of social tranquility and harmony. Among several factors, such as, racial tensions, cultural discrimination and socio-religious oppression, juvenile delinquency among minorities is one of the most predominating

Lactate & Enzymes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Lactate & Enzymes - Essay Example If pyruvate does not break down, it usually turns into lactate. When pyruvate is produced, the muscle cell will try to use it for aerobic energy. However, if the cell does not have the capacity to use all the pyruvate produced, it will be changed chemically to lactate. Some cells have a large capacity to use pyruvate for aerobic energy while others have very little. With training, many cells can adapt to use more pyruvate and, thus, produce less lactate. Lactate is present in our system at rest and as we go about our every day activities, although at low levels. However, as exercise or work activity increases in intensity, large amounts of pyruvate are produced very quickly. Because pyruvate can be produced quickly, not all of it may be used for aerobic energy. The surplus pyruvate will turn into lactate. This is why lactate is such a significant marker for training. When it is produced, it is a sign that aerobic energy is limited during the activity. There is a different reason why more lactate is produced as exercise intensity increases. As exercise increases, extra muscle fibers will be recruited. These fibers are used infrequently at rest or in light activity. Fast twitch fibers are not very good at turning pyruvate into aerobic energy. Hence, a lot of this pyruvate turns into lactate. Lactate is a major metabolic intermediate. Its fate depends on the conditions of the cell. In aerobic oxidation of glucose, glucose is converted to pyruvate, which is then converted to acetylSCoA (or AcetylCoA), a high-energy thioester. Under anaerobic conditions, pyruvate is reduced to lactate to regenerate the NAD + needed in Step 6 of glycolysis to keep glycolysis pathway going. 3. Which enzyme is responsible for lactate production Write out the equation for this reaction. Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme responsible for lactate production, which is present in varieties or organisms including plants and animals. This will catalyse the inter-conversion of pyruvate and lactate with concomitant inter-conversion of NADH and NAD+. As it can also catalyze the oxidation of hydroxybutyrate, occasionally called Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase (HBD). Or D(-)Lactate + -NAD + Hydrazine LDH> Pyruvate Hydrazone + -NADH Abbreviations used: -NAD = -Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, Oxidized Form -NADH = -Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, Reduced Form LDH = D-Lactic Dehydrogenase 4. The student decided to use this enzyme to measure blood lactate levels. He reasoned that if he could produce reaction conditions that allowed the enzyme to metabolise all the lactate present, he would be able to calculate the lactate content of his sample by reading the change in absorbance at 340nm. Explain the reasoning behind this idea. LDH catalyzes the reduction of pyruvate to L-lactate with concomitant oxidation of NADH2 to NAD. Since the oxidation of NADH2 is directly proportional to the reduction of pyruvate in equimolar amounts, the LDH activity can be calculated from the rate of decrease in absorbance at 340 nm (334 nm or 365 nm). 5. In order to obtain suitable conditions for an assay to measure plasma lactate levels, the student chose a buffer containing 1.5% (w/v) hydrazine. Hydrazine reacts covalently with pyruvate to form a hydrazone: CH3 CH3 | | C=O + NH2.NH2 C=N.NH2+H20 |

The character of Curleys Wife Essay Example for Free

The character of Curleys Wife Essay Steinbeck demonstrates Curley’s Wife as ‘unwanted’ when it comes to relationships. Curley’s Wife shares an unenthusiastic and loveless relationship with her husband. †You seen that glove on his left hand? Well, that gloves fulla Vaseline, Curley says hes keepin that hand soft for his wife† is a primary example of this. This quote personifies the fact that Curley only wants a sexual relationship with his wife, and uses her for intimate means only. Additionally, Curley’s Wife is not highly admired among the ranch workers. ‘Tart’ and ‘Jailbait’ are just two of the many words used by the ranch workers to describe Curley’s Wife. This means that they perceive her as trouble and they try to keep away from her. One of the most important relations anybody has is one with their own mother. Curley’s wife shares quite an unpleasant relationship with her mother. This words â€Å"I always thought my ol’ lady stole it†, are a vivid example of how Curley’s Wife had her dream to become an actress, overseen by her mother. The relationship between Curley’s Wife and George is quite similar to Curley’s Wife’s relationship with the other ranch workers. As soon as George sees Curley’s Wife for the first time, he straight away turns to Lennie and coldly says Jesus, what a tramp. These words concisely and efficiently explain the initial thoughts felt by George upon first look at Curley’s Wife. When George tells Lennie off for calling her â€Å"purty† he also illustrates his thoughts in a more influential way with the words; â€Å"Dont you even take a look at that bitch. I dont care what she says and what she does. I seen em poison before. † The words â€Å"bitch† and â€Å"poison†, clarify that George despises Curley’s Wife, probably more than anyone else on the ranch. Curley’s Wife and Crooks are two dissimilar yet comparable characters. They are comparable because both are isolated from other people, albeit for different reasons. Crooks is left isolated from fellow ranch workers due to racial differences, same for Curley’s Wife but because she is s woman. However, the portrayal of Crooks shows that he is an understanding and composed person, completely different to Curley’s Wife. The differences between these characters prove to be greater than first expected when Curley’s Wife tells Crooks â€Å"Well, you keep your place then, Nigger. I could get you strung upon a tree so easy it ain’t even funny. † These words indicate that Curley’s Wife is also in favour of using Crooks’ skin colour against him. Like the relationships shared by Curley’s Wife, with other ranch members, her relationship with Candy is not an appealing one. Having said this, both of these characters can once again relate to each other, through a sense of lonesomeness. Curley’s Wife and Candy definitely despise each other and this is visible through words such as â€Å"that bitch† and â€Å"you god damn tramp†, used by Candy, when talking about Curley’s Wife. John Steinbeck shows a key connection in the relationship between Curley’s Wife and Lennie. Curleys wife is a lot like Lennie in numerous ways; both are alone, controlled by those around them, not trusted because of what they are like and have dreams that they really wants to come true. We feel sorry for them because we can see that they desperately want to try and break free from the life they are caught up in, but George keeps Lennie behind, and Curley keeps his wife behind. They end up confiding in each other as the novel comes to an end. â€Å"Well, I ain’t told this to nobody before. Maybe I oughten to † When Curley’s Wife’s she says these words to Lennie in the barn, the reader realises that this is the first time Curley’s Wife has opened up to anyone. This results in the reader thinking that Curley’s Wife trusts Lennie. In conclusion, my opinion is that Curley’s Wife does seek attention; however this is only because she has been dispossessed of attention throughout her life. Her unwilling marriage to Curley, the fact that she could not accomplish her dream and her having a lack of friends and reverence made me feel regretful about my first impression of her. Steinbeck presents Curley’s Wife in an apathetic way which robustly influences the reader’s image of her. Nevertheless, as the novel reaches its end this negative feeling received by the reader soon changes into that of commiseration. Steinbeck has created a character for us to feel sympathetic towards. Roosevelt Essay -- essays research papers

Theodore Roosevelt is said to have been one of the greatest presidents ever. Theodore Roosevelt expanded the role of the presidency into foreign affairs by using The Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, this stated that the U.S. had the right to oppose European intervention in the western hemisphere and also to intervene itself in the domestic affairs of its neighbors. This was brought about when the government of Venezuela stopped paying their debts to European bankers. As a result European naval forces formed a blockade around the Venezuelan coast and began to bombard their ports. Roosevelt saw this action as a potential threat to the U.S. and threatened to use American naval power to pressure the European navy to withdraw â€Å"†¦the adherence of the United States to the Monroe Doctrine may force the United States, however reluctantly, in flagrant cases of such wrongdoing or impotence, to the exercise of an international police power†(Roosevelt Corollary). Theo dore Roosevelt’s first presidency came after the assassination of President McKinley. He was thought of as the first modern president because he was the first to get involved in foreign affairs, with his Big Stick Policy. Other things he did during his president that are remembered for are his Square deal, Hay-Pauncefote treaty, his corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, and his trust busting. The Big-Stick Policy came upon after Roosevelt said that his motto was â€Å"to speak softly and carry a big stick.† After this the p...

Internal and External Analysis of Tesla Essay

Tesla motors is able to differentiate itself from its rivals by offering a product that has yet to be matched. No other automotive company has been able to produce a car that is all electric and can travel 250 miles on a single charge. In addition, no other company has a network of charge stations allowing Tesla owners to drive across the country if desired. Finally, Tesla motors has created a brand of elite cars, it has been said that Tesla owners may be more of a cult than that of Mac owners. The Tesla Model S is equipped with nothing but the best. From its 24 inch LCD screen, to its leather seats. The 90 kWH battery allows the Model S to travel 300 miles without being charged. This allows the Model S to be very light weight and travel 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. In addition, some intangible strengths of Tesla are its leadership, drive for innovation, and customer service. Tesla is run by Elon Musk, a man driven for success, and also has capital to support the company. Tesla is the first car of its kind, and hopes to continue to deliver quality products. Tesla hopes to be among the first to offer an auto-pilot car. Soon they will be launching their Model X, an SUV of equal quality to the Model S. In the near future Tesla is looking to launch a pick-up truck as well. Tesla offers quality customer service, if ever there is problem Tesla representatives will quickly arrive to pick up your car and leave you edition of the Model S, while yours is quickly repaired. Tesla plans to deliver the best cars in the world, and so far they are succeeding. Tesla processes are highly automated, allowing them the advantage to save on labor costs. Most of the manufacturing is done using 10 ft. tall robots. These robots are able to weld, rivet bond and install different components. Eight robots work on a single car, and are able to produce 83 cars a day. These robots can also be programmed to develop the Model X as well. One area which a Tesla receives a bit of grief for, is not allowing other dealerships to sell Tesla vehicles. While this may cause some bad press it allows Tesla to keep full proceeds, and ensure that all who are interested  in investing in a Tesla receive the full experience and learn from an expert. This also comes into play when selling used vehicles; it allows for greater salvage value and allows the Tesla Model S to retain value for a longer period of time. Lastly Tesla, spends no money on advertising, and does not plan to. Tesla has a small in-house marketing team and an internal team to help run the Tesla website. â€Å"Right now, the stores are our advertising. â€Å"We’re very confident we can sell 20,000-plus cars a year without paid advertising . . . It may be something we’ll do years down the road. But it’s certainly not something we feel is crucial for sales right now,† said spokesperson Alexis Georgeson.
