Beginners Guide How to Set Up WordPress Multisite

WordPress Multisite is a powerful tool that enables you to manage multiple websites efficiently – hence its name. However, many WordPress users dont know what WordPress Multisite is, let alone how to activate it on their site. Thats why a tutorial on how to set up WordPress Multisite can come in handy. In this article, were going to guide you through the process of activating Multisite for both new and existing WordPress sites. Then well teach you how to add new websites to your fledgling Multisite network, manage your plugins and themes, and administrate your users. If you still arent sure what WordPress Multisite is, though, we recommend that you read this article before continuing on. Multisite is an excellent tool for managing multiple WordPress websites easily. There are two main ways to set up WordPress Multisite, depending on your exact situation and the tools that your host offers. Lets start with the easiest method before moving on to the manual method.Activate Multisite for new WordPress websitesIf your web host enables you to set up WordPress using the Softaculous Auto Installer, you can enable Multisite right off the bat.  If your host doesnt offer it dont worry. Well show you another way in a second. To activate Multisite via Softaculous, youll need to visit  your cPanel  dashboard and look  for the WordPress option under the Softaculous section (you can see that on the left in the screenshot below):Click on the icon and go to the  Install  tab. There, youll find a number of fields you need to fill out in order to set up your site, such as its name  and your admin credentials. If you scroll down to the  Site Settings  section, you should find an option called  Enable Multisite:Enable this setting, fill out the rest of the fields on the  page, and click on the  Install  button. Softaculous will set up WordPress Multisite for you, and the next time you access your dashboard youll be able to use the new features. Well tal k about those in a minute, but first, lets discuss what to do if you already have a working WordPress website (or if your host doesnt offer the Softaculous installer).Manually activate Multisite for new or existing WordPress websitesTo manually enable Multisite on a new or existing WordPress site, youll have to alter one of WordPress core files. Fortunately, this is much easier than it sounds. Youll need to use an FTP client to access your website (we recommend FileZilla) and look for the  wp-config.php  file in your WordPress root folder:Once youve located it, right-click on the file and choose the View/Edit option.  This will open  wp-config.php  using your default text editor. Next, add the following line of code near the bottom of the file:define( 'WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true );Keep in mind  that you need to paste this code before  the line that reads /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */, since that sentence marks the end of the file.Afterward, save your c hanges and close your text editor. Now  you can access your dashboard as you usually would, and look for the new  Network Setup  option under the  Tools  tab:Before wrapping up, youll have to configure a couple of simple options for your network. First up, theres the matter of your sites URL structure – you can choose to use subdomains or directories for each site in your network. The decision is up to you, but were partial to subdomains since they appear more professional:The only downside with choosing the  subdomains option is that youll need to also configure something called  wildcard domains. Its not too difficult (heres a tutorial for how to do it), but it is an added step compared to using  sub-directories.Second, youll have to set a title for your network and enter your email address so you can receive notifications:Once these settings are taken care of, WordPress will present you with two code snippets that you need to add to  wp-config.php  andà ‚  .htaccess  (which you can also find in your root folder). Access these files via FTP (the same way you did a moment ago), add the lines of code, and save your changes on both files. After that, your Multisite network will be ready to go!Go to topHow to manage your WordPress websites using Multisite (in three steps)Once youve set up WordPress Multisite using either of the methods outlined above, youll notice a few changes on your dashboard. Namely, Multisite replaces your default tabs with some new ones that youll use to manage your network. Lets check out the new  Sites  tab first.Step #1: Add new WordPress websites to your networkRight now, your network should be empty aside from the site where you just set up Multisite. Lets fix that by going to the  Sites → Add New  tab:Set a name for your subdomain, as well as a title, language, and administrator email for your new site:When youre done, click on  Add Site  to make the new site a part of your network. Its as simple as that!Step #2: Manage themes and plugins for your networkThe process of installing plugins using Multisite works just the same as with a regular WordPress site. However, when you install a plugin, youll now see an option to activate it for your entire network:As soon as you activate the plugin using this button, it  will be enabled for every site on your network. Individual site administrators wont be able to set up their own plugins, so youll need to repeat this process for any plugins that you want to use on your network. The process for adding WordPress themes to your network works in exactly the same way. However, individual site administrators can choose which of the available themes they want to use for their sites.Step #3: Manage your sites users and contributorsWhen you add new sites to your network, Multisite will automatically create admin users for each one. However, if you want to put someone else in charge of these sites, all you have to do is go to the   Sites  tab, click on the  Edit  button for the site you want to modify, and find the  Users  tab:Now, scroll down to the section called  Add New User. Here you can choose a  username, enter a corresponding email, and select a user role from the  drop-down menu:Then, simply repeat this process for as many users as youd like to add. The choice of which roles to assign is up to you, but we do recommend that you limit the number of administrators for security purposes.ConclusionManaging several WordPress websites can be complicated. There  are a ton of tasks you need to keep track of, including installing updates, setting up new plugins, and more. Even if youre a WordPress veteran, these responsibilities can take up a lot of time unless you use a management tool such as Multisite.

The Grapes Of Wrath Essays (1216 words) - U.S. Route 66, Dust Bowl

The Grapes Of Wrath Essays (1216 words) - U.S. Route 66, Dust Bowl The Grapes of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath is a novel by John Steinbeck that exposes the desperate conditions under which the migratory farm families of America during the 1930's live under. The novel tells of one families migration west to California through the great economic depression of the 1930's. The Joad family had to abandon their home and their livelihoods. They had to uproot and set adrift because tractors were rapidly industrializing their farms. The bank took possession of their land because the owners could not pay off their loan. The novel shows how the Joad family deals with moving to California. How they survive the cruelty of the land owners that take advantage of them, their poverty and willingness to work. The Grapes of Wrath combines Steinbeck adoration of the land, his simple hatred of corruption resulting from materialism (money) and his abiding faith in the common people to overcome the hostile environment. The novel opens with a retaining picture of nature on rampage. The novel shows the men and women that are unbroken by nature. The theme is one of man verses a hostile environment. His body destroyed but his spirit is not broken. The method used to develop the theme of the novel is through the use of symbolism. There are several uses of symbols in the novel from the turtle at the beginning to the rain at the end. As each symbol is presented through the novel they show examples of the good and the bad things that exist within the novel. The opening chapter paints a vivid picture of the situation facing the drought-stricken farmers of Oklahoma. Dust is described a covering everything, smothering the life out of anything that wants to grow. The dust is symbolic of the erosion of the lives of the people. The dust is synonymous with "deadness". The land is ruined ^way of life (farming) gone, people ^uprooted and forced to leave. Secondly, the dust stands for ^profiteering banks in the background that squeeze the life out the land by forcing the people off the land. The soil, the people (farmers) have been drained of life and are exploited: The last rain fell on the red and gray country of Oklahoma in early May. The weeds became a dark green to protect themselves from the sun's unyielding rays....The wind grew stronger, uprooting the weakened corn, and the air became so filled with dust that the stars were not visible at night. (Chp 1) As the chapter continues a turtle, which appears and reappears several times early in the novel, can be seen to stand for survival, a driving life force in all of mankind that cannot be beaten by nature or man. The turtle represents a hope that the trip to the west is survivable by the farmer migrants (Joad family). The turtle further represents the migrants struggles against nature/man by overcoming every obstacle he encounters: the red ant in his path, the truck driver who tries to run over him, being captured in Tom Joad's jacket: And now a light truck approached, and as it came near, the driver saw the turtle and swerved to hit it. The driver of the truck works for a large company, who try to stop the migrants from going west, when the driver attempts to hit the turtle it is another example of the big powerful guy trying to flatten or kill the little guy. Everything the turtle encounters trys its best to stop the turtle from making its westerly journey. Steadily the t! urtle advances on, ironically to the southwest, the direction of the mirgration of people. The turtle is described as being lasting, ancient, old and wise: horny head, yellowed toenails, indestructible high dome of a shell, humorous old eyes. (Chp 1) The driver of the truck, red ant and Tom Joad's jacket are all symbolic of nature and man the try to stop the turtle from continuing his journey westward to the promise land. The turtle helps to develop the theme by showing its struggle against life/ comparing it with the Joad struggle against man. The grapes seem to symbolize both bitterness and copiousness. Grandpa the oldest member of the Joad family talks of the

Managing Business in Europe - Airbus versus Boeing Research Paper

Managing Business in Europe - Airbus versus Boeing - Research Paper Example The formation of the European Monitory Union (EMU) and its subsequent policies stirred the aircraft manufacturing industry to a new level of anxiety and competition. At the forefront of this competition, wars are the two major manufacturers of large commercial aircrafts, Boeing and Airbus. The success story or lack thereof of the euro poses a lot of challenges to the role the U.S dollar has played in the international aircraft market, more so in the European market. Most affected in this regard is Boeing, which carries out its production and sales using the dollar. The negative impacts of a credible euro on the dollar stem from the fact that the euro has become an attractive alternative to the dollar in the European aircraft market. The euro’s challenge to the dollar as the world’s leading currency in the aviation industry still attracts a lot of debates and uncertainty. On one side of the debate are those stakeholders holding the opinion that forces of inertia will sti ll see the dollar maintain its role as the leading currency in the aviation industry for quite a long time. The euro-enthusiasts, on the other hand, foresee a situation in which the euro will soon rival the dollar as the preferred currency in the aviation industry’s manufacturing subsector. Besides the above lines of thought, there are those aviation stakeholders who assert that it is too early to postulate on the long-term impacts of the EMU on the role of the dollar or the euro on the manufacturers of aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus.

Physical Security Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words - 1

Physical Security - Essay Example This essay stresses that there is a possibility that during the opening ceremony a certain country’s athlete may get attacked by a terrorist group. It may also happen that the opening ceremony may get sabotaged altogether by a terrorist or militia group so as to defame the pride of the host country. In any of these cases, it becomes very important to understand the fact that security breaches are possible and consequently, security needs to be tightened. This paper makes a conclusion that equally important is upholding the security during the medal distribution ceremony all for the same reasons which have been mentioned above. Again, it might happen that to hamper the national pride of the host nation or the participating nation one may try to attack the winning team/sportsperson during the medal-distribution ceremony. Also, it may happen that a winning participant or sportsperson maybe a terrorist supporter or a terrorist itself in guise. The security assessment of the nearby hospital or medical center is also very significant and critical to the overall security process. Hospitals are locations of maximum vulnerability if compared to other locations which are part of the entire event. There is a possibility that a minor disaster may lead to the hospitalization of some people (sportsters/spectators/organizers) and a major disaster can be planned to be executed in the hospital because it provides a good vantage point to the perpetrat ors of the security breach.

John Adams Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

John Adams - Essay Example This is evident from the contributions made by Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams. John Adams and Abigail Adams, as a couple, have been researches upon in the past because of their tremendous duo performance in the revolution. Those who may consider John Adams to be more supportive of the American Revolution need to understand that Abigail has also played the similar role as her husband. The relationship between John and Abigail is considered to be very strong because they had similar outlook of life. They both understood the need of democracy in America for which they had to counter monarchy system (Adams). The great relationship between John Adams and Abigail Adams has been well addressed by Jeff Shaara in his book â€Å"Rise to Rebellion". He has summed up the relationship of John Adams and Abigail Adams in a very bright picture. He has mentioned in his book that John Adams and Abigail Adams were sharing same viewpoints. They both thought that slavery was not the future of America n nation. They knew that the American nation had a lot of potential for which they needed their rights to practice (McCullough). It will not be incorrect to mention that the charisma which must have drawn John Adams to Abigail Adams was her strong standing of political ideology. Abigail was a very strong lady who was able to express her views to politicians confidently and with the usage of correct words for delivery of her ideas. John and Abigail were proven to be a very strong team working as a single unit in the shape of marriage. Both of them have been living apart from each other but they were still in contact with each other. It is an evident fact that relationship become vulnerable when they are not able to communicate with each other. The example of John and Abigail relationship should be used for understanding the strength of relationship (Sloan). When John was away from home, Abigail was writing letters to him and other founding fathers of the revolution in order to keep t hem morale high and understand the development marked in the timeline. It is interesting to note here that the reason behind John staying away from his family was due to the role of diplomacy that he had to play in the European region. At the same time, Abigail was involved in communicating with nation to make them powerful and nationalistic about their motives. In this course, Abigail proved herself as a very good mother who nurtured her kids in the best way (Waldstreicher). Abigail Adams has also gone through a number of threats from the courts because of her ideological practices. But she did not feel fearful and rather tackled the situation herself. This was the uniqueness of Abigail that helped both of them to become one of the most desirable couple in American history. Other than their political life, John Adams and Abigail Adams really liked each other. The letters that was shared by both of them showed that they were greatly connected to each other. They had stronger trust o n each other and often considered each other to be the sole reason for their complete life. The separation of eighteen years rather increased their love for each other. This is quite different from the love stories that we witness in the present era. It has often been noted that separation for many years ultimately leads to divorce rates. In the case of John Adams and Abigail Adams, love bloomed since teenage. Among several other qualities that were admired by John in Abigail, her intellect

Through many trials, Esperanza learns about the important things in life. REVIEW: I enjoyed this book very much. It is highly recommended. It is a story of set in the United States during the Great Depression Era and it shows how Esperanza overcame the obstacles of living in a new country despite losing everything. The book is written in English, but several Spanish words are used, which would be good to use in vocabulary development.Pam Munoz Ryan has described this book as being based on her own grandmother’s Esperanza’s life in Mexico and the United States. As a child, her grandmother would talk about her life in the farm camps. These stories inspired the book Esperanza Rising which tells a story of hope and survival. This book has an interesting story line and real-life characters. It brings forth the struggles of Mexican immigrants, racism, difficult and substandard working and living conditions of migrant farm workers in San Joaquin Valley, California and the history of the Great Depression.

Superman Will Fly No More essays

Superman Will Fly No More essays Fyodor Dostoevskis Crime and Punishment follows the main character Raskolnikov as he attempts to prove his theories on the possibility of a superman having the power to transgress the law and morality because he is more extraordinary than the common man. Throughout his journey testing his theory, the author not only uses the main character as a representation of how such an egotistical theory isnt true, but also uses another character, Svidrigailov, as an example of the philosophys fallibility. In Crime and Punishment, Dostoevski characterizes Svidrigailov as the embodiment of evil as he represents the Nietzsche superman, and through Svidrigailovs death, proves his belief in the inability of anyones will to exist above humanity in the world. Arkady Ivanovitch Svidrigailov is a character based on the philosophical ideas of Nietzsche, known for his beliefs that it is possible for a superman to be so great that laws, morals, and ethics cant touch him in the sense that hes not physically of emotionally punished. This extraordinary man does not exist for the benefit of society, but only for his own self-gratification. He also believes that his will is above that of any Supreme being, therefore God does not exist. With no higher form of life to punish him, he is able to assert his will freely as he chooses. According to Nietzsche, he who possesses the strongest will can enforce his desires and power above those intellectually inferior. Dostoevski applies this concept with the characterization of Svidrigailov, who can rape a thirteen-year old girl and aid in the death of his wife without the fear of some higher power punishing him. Just as Raskolnikov can justify the murders of the old pawnbroker and her sister by means necessary to complete his experiment, Svidrigailov can justify his rape because he is above the common morality. Merriam-Websters Words of the Year 2008

Merriam-Websters Words of the Year 2008 Merriam-Websters Words of the Year 2008 Merriam-Websters Words of the Year 2008 By Maeve Maddox The most looked-up words in the online Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2008 reflect the nations preoccupation with discussions surrounding the Presidential campaign. Seven of the tenbailout, vet, socialism, maverick, rogue, misogyny, and bipartisanhave political associations. The other threeturmoil, trepidation, and precipicehave appreared frequently this year in discussions of the stock market and the economy. Some of these words have more colorful backgrounds than others. bailout [bÄ lout] When I hear bailout I have the mental image of corporation executives in 3-piece suits sitting in a leaking boat, tossing bucketfuls of water overboad as fast as they can, and scanning the horizon for a ship that will rescue them. The verb to bail, with the sense toss water out of a boat comes from a word for bucket. vet [vÄ•t] This verb, with the meaning to examine carefully before approving, may derive from the examination of a racehorse by a veterinarian before a race. Kipling used it in this sense in 1904. Its meaning expanded to mean the careful vetting of anything requiring approval, from a manuscript to a job applicant. The word was apparently unfamiliar to a lot of Americans until Obama used it. I heard it used frequently when I lived in England. socialism [sÃ… shÉ™-lÄ zÉ™m] Not at all an unfamiliar word to Americans, the spike in looking it up may have had something to do with the contradictory ways in which the word was being used. While the socialism label was being waved about as a Bad Thing by campaigners, the federal government was practicing what seemed to be a form of socialism by taking over ownership of Wall Streets mortgage-backed assets. rogue [rÃ… g] When Sarah Palin supposedly contradicted something McCain had said, TV commentators kept saying shed gone rogue. Their meaning seemed to be that shed become uncontrollable, rather like a rogue elephant trampling its keepers. Here are some definitions of rogue from Merriam-Webster: adjective: resembling or suggesting a rogue elephant, especially in being isolated, aberrant, dangerous, or uncontrollable corrupt, dishonest of or being a nation whose leaders defy international law or norms of international behavior noun: a dishonest or worthless person; scoundrel a mischievous person : scamp a horse inclined to shirk or misbehave an individual exhibiting a chance and usually inferior biological variation misogyny [mÄ -sÃ… jÉ™-nÄ“] hatred of women. The question of misogyny comes up whenever a woman runs for office. This years campaign with two high profile women explains interest in this word. maverick [mÄÆ'vÉ™r-Ä k or mÄÆ'vrÄ k]- John McCain frequently described himself as a maverick. When Sarah Palin joined his campaign, she too adopted the epithet. They used it in the sense of person who is not controlled by others. Maverick is an eponynm. Samuel Maverick (1803-1870) was a lawyer, politician, and land baron who refused to brand his cattle. He claimed he didnt want to hurt them, but other ranchers believed he didnt brand them so that he could then claim any unbranded calf as his own. Maverick first meant an unbranded calf, but came to have the figurative sense of masterless. bipartisan [(bÄ «-prtÄ -zÉ™n, -sÉ™n] Heres a word that sounds pretty good at the end of a two year campaign filled with inter- and intra-party bickering: of, relating to, or involving members of two parties; specifically, marked by or involving cooperation, agreement, and compromise between two major political parties. I can vote for that!
